Embracing the Evolution of My Creative Journey

Putting myself out there has never been easy, but here we go...

Over the years, I’ve explored countless mediums—drawing, painting, graphic design, digital illustration, and even ATC collages. In every one of them, lettering has been a constant thread, seamlessly woven into each piece. Whether I was painting historic storefronts or layering patterns and words in collages, the art of letters—how they curve, flow, and evoke emotion and a sense of time—has always been an integral part of my creative DNA. It’s something I see now in hindsight: my love for letters and typography as visual art was always there.

As a graphic designer, I’ve always admired the precision and thoughtfulness of the craft. I loved the way each project challenged me to interpret a brief in a way that was uniquely mine, shaped by my experiences, interests, and creative instincts. That same appreciation carried over when I discovered hand lettering. It felt like the perfect meeting of two worlds: the freedom to express myself and the structure to shape it into something meaningful.

I’ve taken a handful of online and in person lettering workshops and joined a supportive, exclusive lettering community. For a long time, I hesitated to take the leap because I felt I needed more practice. But after reading Make It by Martina Flor, I realized it was time to turn my practice into something tangible—something real. This book gave me the nudge I needed to finally take the next step.

Deciding to focus on hand lettering felt like a natural step in my creative evolution. The joy I discovered in painting and collage, the discipline I developed through design, and my endless curiosity for exploring new techniques all seemed to converge in this art form. 

And yet, I know this isn’t the end of the journey. Creativity, after all, is a living thing—it grows, changes, and evolves with us. I’m excited to see where it will take me next, and I hope to inspire others to embrace their own creative evolution along the way.
